Extensive trials and tests have shown that OptyBoost-TEC will reduce carbon emissions from vehicles by up to 16%. The minimum reduction in emissions achieved has been a highly significant 5% with an associated average reduction in fuel consumption of 5%.
Such reductions on a fleet of 100 HGV's will result in a significantly reduced carbon footprint helping government targets to be met. A 5% reduction in fuel cost would also make a major contribution to profitability.
No modification to the engine is required and the treatment, which takes about 10 minutes in total is easily incorporated into the routine service schedule.
A HGV vehicle that normally returns 7mpg would consume 6,600 litres of fuel over 10,000 miles at a cost of about £5,300 (£0.80/litre). A 5% reduction in fuel consumption would save £265. Many HGV's cover this distance between scheduled 6 weekly services giving a yearly saving of over £2000. For a fleet of 100 vehicles this would reduce operating costs by over £200k per annum.
